Much Better

There are transformations, and then there are transformations.

A year ago, our daughter rescued a homeless cat she would eventually name Tippy. Because he was matted in every cardinal direction, his rescuers shaved him down to the nubs, leaving a large pom pom on the tip of his tail.

Not only did he have constant bad hair days, he was born with a neurological deficit, causing him to bobble and weave through life. Navigating AJ's one-bedroom apartment was something of a challenge.

He turned out to be deaf.

Since last summer, when this video was taken, he has fluffed out and changed color.

He still bobbles, but not quite as much.

He is as sweet as the day is long.

His purr can drown out conversation.

And he pretty much keeps Oscar, AJ's enormous black and white galump of a dog, in a permanent state of alert lest Tip deliver a bobble-by chomp to his tail.

(His head was moving, so I apologize for the fuzziness.)

So, who or what have you rescued lately?

I love this happy ending story too. Tippy has turned into quite a handsome little devil.

Lucky Tippy to have found AJ! Not everyone would have seen beyond his issues. I have two rescued cats and two rescued chickens. They keep life interesting! ~ Maureen

Your family has the magic touch with needy animals.....
what do you think about a big black dog with orthopedic and gastronomic deficits?

Tippy is the luckiest little guy. I loved to watch he and Oscar just sit in front of Anna and watch her with lots of love and devotion.

What a lucky cat to be rescued by someone so caring. I'm glad to hear this happy ending.

So nice that his story ended happy. He really turned out to be a beautiful cat. Sorry to say that the last rescue for me was in 2003 to a rather large orange striped tiger cat. He too has a loud purr and he brings us so much joy and helped to be company to our other cat.

What a cute little fluffy ball of love! And a people kitty cat. He made the rounds to make sure everyone had a chance to pet him. I was delighted to get a chance to meet him. Good job Anna!!!!

Lots of time, a white cat or dog (especially with blue eyes) will be deaf. And, deafness can be associated with vestibular impairment. Maybe this is poor little Tippy's problem? Whatever the difficulty Tippy is a beautiful furry little thing.

That is the same cat?!!! How handsome.

We were adopted by two outside kitties. One was considered feral but I don't think so--he is so loving.

It sounds like a perfect home for them.

He's quite a beauty. No rescues for me. I uses to always try to rescue people ...in the worst ways...but I learned one day that you can only facilitate. In the end people have to rescue themselves or you will forever be rescuing them over and over. It was a good hard learned lesson.

That is one gorgeous cat! It's terrific your daughter rescued him, especially because of his disability.

I'm not sure this qualifies as a rescue, but I've been coaching a friend of mine with his fledgling blog. It won't be long before he's ahead of me in number of posts!

It's amazing how love and safety and knowing where 'home' is can transform you, isn't it?

Tippy is the poster child for this!

I'm so glad he found a happy home!

I'm still just trying to rescue myself.

Somedays seem to go better than others.

Sigh.

Thanks for a marvelous link for the letter "M".
