Groan

The reason we choose to stay in Chicago is that however awful our winters may be, the summers are always delightful and moderate.

At least that was the case until 1.30 p.m. somewhere between the mall and the library on Naper Boulevard.

Note to self: put masking tape over outside temp read-out. Best not to know these things.

(If it's this bad now, what will it be like in August when we are in our wedding -- and undergarment support -- finery?)

Think temperate weather thoughts with me:

Lush green grass.

Wave Petunias still waving and not shriveled into crunchy stubs.

Hydrangeas all bright and white, exhibiting their usual good posture at the back of the garden.

Silvery rain drops -- a lot of 'em.

And calming, cool breezes.

Possibly a vodka tonic or two until it happens.

there's always the cold drink of water to keep you cool, I hope.

hope you have a cool day.

I'm there thinking those temperate thoughts with you! If it's so hot now, all the Summer hotness will be used up, so it will HAVE to be cooler!

I vote for two vodka tonics. Vodka is a great pain killer.
Always serving here on the Court.

it's really nasty here, too. sadly, alcohol makes me feel even hotter. it's all iced tea, all the time. sigh.

Vodka tonic while sitting in a cool bath might be a good idea! Big sympathy from here in the Pacific Northwest where we have just had the first warm-ish day of summer.

This has been a crazy summer so far, weather wise. I am already looking forward to autumn!

Don't you dare let it be hot when I travel all the way up north for the wedding. God forbid that my 'big southern hair' should fall flat! I am looking forward to those wonderful cool breezes on your back patio and I don't much like vodka.

I'm in Texas where 104 can be the norm in July and August! But we're cool as an ice cube right now in the high 90s!!
Hope it cools down for you!

There are only two seasons in Chicago--winter and July! If you think you're hot, you should visit Tucson! A few days ago my thermometer read 115! And that's in the shade. Don't worry! It can't last forever!!

We retired to Florida thinking how hot it would be! But so far this summer we have not been nearly as hot as the rest of the country! And during the winter months we are very mild...not cold! Hope you have a break in the heat soon!

I don't think my comment went through - apologies if this is a duplicate. I wilt with the petunias at anything above 90. I am glad we live near the ocean with very few hot days - just enough to make us really appreciate the moderate norm.

It is sure wicked hot everywhere.

Yikes!

I would say this was a great post but darned if I can't see the same temps outside.

Trip to Alaska anyone?

Thanks for the smile! Stay cool!
