Looks like like a delightful corner of France, non?
In fact, this climbing rose envelops a free-standing garage located a very short distance from Naperville's City Hall.
Yellow clapboard. Green shutters. White woodwork. An architectural trifecta, with the added bonus of buds on the verge of bursting to life.
I've walked by this little scene many times, but it's the first time I've seen it decked out for spring.
I love it that someone took the time to add a flower box to the window.
Now there's a metaphor for life.
What will you plant in your flower box this year?

Impatients and Lobelia because they are easy to grow and I like them. I love the photos of the climbing rose against that garage. It does look like the Provence.
It is very beautiful!
oh I wish i had a flower box ... lovely photo!
I love climbing, viney things!
Pansies now until it heats up and then impatiens. After seeing that photo, I may have to rethink and include something climbing. Thanks for stopping to smell the roses.
First I really need one of these window boxes, and we have thought about putting them in two of the upstairs bedrooms...but still not there yet!

Have plans to plant a great many things, but time will tell if I actually do. That climbing rose is fantastic. I have one at the back of my garage, the only remaining rose bush from one of my original gardens 20+ years ago. The climber refuses to die, despite my neglect. And every spring it astonishes me with its blooms, some years prolific beyond belief.
What pretty pictures. I love the new (flower buds) against the old (window boxes). We're moving soon and I plan to do lots of planting.
We had a climbing rose bush outside of our garage on Crestway Drive. It was always at its peak on Mother's Day and we picked flowers for Mom. So this post is really appropriate now!
There are pansies in the window box outside the kitchen window. Soon it will be too hot, and then there will be geraniums and lobelia in the box.
Oh wow. Isn't this going to be glorious when it's all planted and those roses are in bloom! I love lobelia in window boxes...that electric blue color dripping over the edge is just scrumptious...and alyssum's sweet fragrance is always pretty, too.
I worked in a greenhouse many years ago and it was part of my job to plant window boxes and planters to sell.
It was soooo fun having access to a huge variety of flowers and plants! It was a great job!
And this was really an xcellent link to the letter X!
Thank you for sharing it.
