Real Smart

Smartphones are making me feel very unsmart.

I've had the opportunity to screw up use an iPhone in the past few days, to my unending frustration (and the mirth of the phone's owner).

Naperville Now's phalanges just do not pfly like they used to. And they may function about as well as this fellow's.

Wikipedia
(But I do know the word phalanges, so that has to count for something.)

I have purposely refused to jump on the iPhone bandwagon because, to quote my friend Phil,  "I don't want to be hip or cool." I so get that. I am so that.

And of course, I expect these texting gloves will really help this winter.

(What? No texting mittens for the advanced?)

I like my phone. It's old, functional and even has a qwerty keyboard. And that is the limit of its capabilities.

Our kids all have iPhones. And they never click through to the links of hilarious stuff I send them.

"My connection's too slow for that."
"Well, use the computer."
"This IS a computer. In my pocket."
"Fine, if you don't want to see the almost-naked guy in the French candy commercial."
"Resend that link."

Technology moves ever onward and advance we must. Adapt we must. And practice we must.

If you have any fingertip tips, drop me a note. Or txt.

Misspellings forgiven.

A light went off in my head after reading your blog today. I now understand why that overpriced pair of knit gloves at the Saks outlet store had a slit in the tip of the "pointer" finger. It was to text! And here I was thinking "I can't believe they are charging so much for a pair of gloves that already have a hole in them!" If I were to get a smart phone, will it make me smarter? I'm thinking I might be needing that...

I'm still using the blackberry but have been thinking seriously of changing to the iphone...

And "frog fingers"? Love it! :)

They make gloves especially for using our cell phones, and Icetoner makes them and sells them at target even! Very nicely priced too....and as far as phones go presently....I haven't ventured into that land yet....just a simple nice cell phone, takes good pictures and I text on it...but would rather speak!!!!!

I am so not cool. I just got a smart phone, and my son had to set it up for me. :-)

I guess that's one of the reasons my daughter loves those gloves with the fingers open!

Drives me crazy that I have to take off my gloves to use my phone in winter.

I'm fascinated by the new smart phones, but haven't been able to convince myself that I want to sign up for the data plans and everything else that's required. So far I'm content with my $100/yr TracFone though I do keep hoping they will come out with a smart phone sometime soon. We'll see...

I am an unabashed technology geek, and I lust after an iPhone. BUT I am smart enough to realize I just need a phone to be a phone and so I am more than happy with my $24/month Consumer Cellular (AARP endorsed) Nokia. :-)

I have regular old cell phone for emergencies. I don't think I could handle a smart phone.

I have a smart phone (not an iphone) and there is a handy little stylus built in so I don't have to worry about gloves or fat phalanges. They make stylii for the iphone as well, it might make a difference in how easy it is to use. Congratulations! There are some incredible apps out there, many of them free.

Stylii? I am so on that program. Santa? Ya reading?

I just got my daughter some texting gloves for Christmas, I hope she likes them because she texts a lot! Our cells phones might just as well have a rotary dial, we're totally uncool, embarrassingly so, not even texting on the phones. I love the frog! Good luck learning your phone.

This sounds too good to be true, but I found this link for a simple stylus and clip on holder for under $4...

I am an Apple girl. I love my Iphone and my MacBook Air and am hoping Santa leaves me an IMac for Christmas. Then I can use the Cloud. I have wanted to sit on a cloud ever since I was a little girl. Floating around on big, fluffy clouds sounds like the best to me!
