So Ick

As you will recall from here, there is still much cleaning, sanitizing and gagging to be done in the basement.

The good news is the Roto Rooter guy told me that hydrogen peroxide is even better than bleach for bacteria eradication, two words I hope never to write again, let alone think about, in 2011.

If you need me, you'll know where to find me. Wear rubber gloves. And a face mask. Disposable footwear is probably a good idea.

Meanwhile, tell me about your plans for New Year's Eve in the comments section. I'd love to hear what you're up to. Your stories will buoy my spirits as I try to undo the ick factor.

Happy New Year, everyone.

No exciting plans over by here, maybe we'll see New Years on the East coast on TV, never make it too midnight anymore. Good luck in the basement!

Will be glad to be in Ft Lauderdale visiting with some friends. Hope it is not too chilly down there...

Will be celebrating with the same dear friends who have seen in the New Year with us since New Year's Eve 1978. We've always had an early dinner out, then back to someone's house. The kids (first one was born in '78, last one in '83) were always with us. Even as collegians they at least had dinner with us, you know any free food is good food. Collectively the three couples had five children who, curiously, all now live out of state. This year, as there was last year, there will be three generations at dinner, you know any free food is good food is an idea that may never die. And that's fine with us.

Wish you could have joined us for dinner. Sorry you had other plans. We'll toast you, and hope you are having a good time. Then like Sharon, we'll watch the ball fall in NY, and head to bed. Happy New Year - and may your basement stay dry!

I am (have become or always was, not sure) a New Year's Grinch. So will stay home, maybe watch an on-demand movie, soak the beans for my New Year's Day soup and go to bed when my eyes droop, which each year gets further and further away from midnight.
